Responsible use of water

We ensure that during the palm oil extraction process only necessary water is used. Our commitment is to make efficient, rational and responsible use of water resources.

Ensure that water derived from our processes is properly treated and complies with applicable local regulations, so we have a strategic sustainability plan 2021-2025, in addition to monthly reporting water use intensity in cubic meters of our refinery plant.

Our commitment is to make efficient, rational and responsible use of water resources. Ensure that water derived from our processes is properly treated and complies with applicable local regulations.

We actively participate in bodies such as the River Technical Roundtables to ensure appropriate and responsible water use, in which private sector, government and civil society participate.

Reforestation

Reforestation actions aim to create conditions that favor water recharge, create barriers to avoid soil erosion, as well as to generate spaces that promote biodiversity, since forests are habitats for different species. On issues of restoration of riparian areas Policy on Sustainability reaffirms our commitment that also involves our suppliers.

Integrated Pest Management and Responsible Use of Agrochemicals

Our commitment is to maintain a program and carry out soil conservation practices that reduce water and wind erosion; also, to make rational use of fertilizers and organic matter control in soils, so we have an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Plan to ensure healthy plantations, by promoting reduction of pesticide use according to planting conditions.

We do not use agrochemicals listed as Type 1A or 1B by the World Health Organization, those listed in the Stockholm and Rotterdam conventions and Paraquat. This commitment also applies to all our suppliers, as stated in our supplier procedure.

For waste management, we have a system that avoids negative impacts; we also have an agreement with Agrequima, company that ensures proper use of fertilizers and other agrochemicals used in the fields including training of collaborators, product selection, color labeling, identification and toxicity, proper handling and disposal of empty chemical containers, maintenance of application equipment, proper use of protective equipment, procedures, among others.

We do not use agrochemicals listed as Type 1A or 1B by the World Health Organization, those listed in the Stockholm and Rotterdam conventions and Paraquat.
